Sensory Strategies for Urges to Binge, Somatic Strategies for Binge Eating, Body-Based Interventions for Binge Eating Disorder…..What’s the Difference?

Hi friends, I want to help to alleviate some confusion that might exist as to different phrases you might read/hear regarding different tools/strategies/interventions. There are a lot of different ways to say what are essentially the same things, albeit with some slightly different flavors. For the most part, these are different ways of saying the same thing (strategies I propose):

  • Sensory strategies for urges to binge
  • Somatic strategies for urges to binge
  • Body-based strategies for urges to binge
  • Multi-sensory strategies for urges to binge
  • Physically active strategies for urges to binge
  • Body and movement oriented interventions for urges to binge
  • Sensory modulation for urges to binge
  • Mind-body interventions for binge eating disorder
  • Body-mind interventions for binge eating
  • Psychomotor interventions for binge eating
  • Embodiment strategies to stop binge eating
  • Embodied strategies to stop bingeing
  • Embodiment tools for freedom from binge eating

All of these are ways of saying essentially the same thing – using your body to help cope with urges to binge or to proactively self-regulate, which can help intervention downstream.
